Note

Alice's middle name is uncertain. It is barely legible on her father's death certificate and does not seem to appear elsewhere. It has been suggested that it may have been Beatrice, and this looks plausible. There does not appear to be a record of her birth in South Australia. She is believed to have been born around March 1859, based on her age given at the time of her death. She was probably born around Darley (SA), where her parents were living at that time.

Alice died as a young child in 1861, when she was just 2 years and 9 months old. Her death certificate records her place of residence and of death as Darlington (SA), however Darlington does not seem to exist. It possibly could be a corruption of Darley, where her family is believed to have been living at that time, however it may be a contemporary name which has fallen into obscurity.
