Note

Zelpha's father died in 1876 in Adelaide (SA) at the age of 62.

She had a child in 1880 named William Butler ROWNEY who died just a few months after birth, in Adelaide. The father of William was Edward ROWNEY, but it does not appear that he and Zelpha were married.

After Zelpha's marriage to George RIPLEY in 1881, they settled in Adelaide and had a number of children together. At the time of her marriage to George, Zelpha's marital status was recorded as "single". This would seem to confirm that she had not married Edward ROWNEY.
