Ern was born in 1897 His birth was registered at Beulah (Vic). He is believed to have lived around Hopetoun (Vic) for some time, probably on his family's farm.

Ern later worked for the YOUNGHUSBAND family at Inglewood (Vic) for quite a few years.

Ern eventually married their daughter, Ivy YOUNGHUSBAND, late in life.

Ern died at Inglewood in 1963 at the age of 71. He was buried at Inglewood.

Ivy died a few years later, in 1970, at Kurting (Vic). She was 63 years of age. She was buried with along with Ern at the Inglewood Cemetery.
