Note	Herbert was born in 1871 in the Hundred of Grace (SA). He probably came from South Australia to Victoria around 1890 with his POULTON and ROWNEY relations who made the move from around Owen (SA) to Galaquil (Vic) at that time. After a short stay at Galaquil they moved further north and settled around Hopetoun (Vic). Herbert selected land at Cambacanya (Vic), near Hopetoun, where he farmed for many years. Herbert married Maud HARMER in 1897 when he was around 28 years of age and Maud was around 21 years old. They had four children who were all born around Hopetoun; Daisy in 1898, Stan in 1901, Mabel in 1904, and Dorrie in 1907. Maude died at Melbourne East (Vic) in 1909 when she was just 33 years of age. Perhaps she had been in hospital in Melbourne. Her young family at that time would have consisted of Herbert (aged 38), and their four children; Daisy (aged 11), Stan (aged 8), Mabel (aged 5), and Dorrie (aged 2). Mabel was subsequently raised by her widowed aunt, Polly ROWNEY, who had a farm at Hopetoun West. Dorrie was taken in by uncle and aunt, Ted and Polly POULTON, who were also farmers in the area. The older FINNEMORE children, Daisy and Stan, stayed with their father to help carry on the farm. In the 1912 electoral roll Herbert was recorded as a farmer at Cambacanya. He does not appear to have remarried by this time. It is not known whether he ever did. Herbert's eldest daughter Daisy was married to Edward FINCK in 1919. They seem to have settled in Portland (Vic). Herbert died from Huntington's Disease at Bendigo (Vic) in 1922 at the age of 49. His three unmarried children at that time were; Stan (aged 21), Mabel (aged 18), and Dorrie (aged 15).
