Note | Patrick is believed to have been born around 1701, the seventh of John and Judith ROWNEY's thirteen known children. He was baptised that year in the parish of Langford, in Bedfordshire, England, where the family resided. In 1731, Patrick was married to Ann (or Anna) TANSLEY in the village of Hinxworth, in Hertfordshire, just a few miles from Langford. He was about 30 years of age at that time, while Ann was around 28 years old. Ann was a native of the village of Haynes, in Bedfordshire, which is just a short distance from Langford. Soon after their marriage, Patrick and Ann appear to have settled in the nearby town of Biggleswade, in Bedfordshire. Their first born child, William, was christened in Biggleswade in 1731. They had three further known children; Thomas (b.1733), John (b.1739), and Sarah (b.1741). All the identified christenings of their children were conducted at St Andrew's Church in Biggleswade. Their daughter Sarah died in 1746 when she was around 5 years old. She was buried in the graveyard at St Andrew's Church in Biggleswade. She was described as an "unbaptised daughter of Patrick and Ann ROWNEY" on the parish burial register. Patrick died in May 1758, when he was around 57 years of age. He was buried at St Andrew's Church in Biggleswade. He was described as a labourer at that time. Patrick and Ann's eldest son William was married at Willington in October 1758, and settled at the nearby village of Southill, in Bedfordshire; Thomas married in 1762 and settled in Biggleswade; Patrick was also married in 1762, in Southill, and subsequently settled in the nearby village of Stotfold, in Bedfordshire; John settled and began raising a family in the village of Dunton, in Bedfordshire, around 1766. Ann's fate is not known. |
