Note

Sarah was born around 1694. She was baptised in the parish of Langford, in Bedfordshire, England, in that year. Her parents lived at Langford.

Nothing more is known with certainty about Sarah, however there are a number of references to women named Sarah ROWNEY living around Langford and nearby Biggleswade over subsequent years, some of which may refer to this person. Some of the references clearly refer to wives of ROWNEY men, so Sarah's presence beyond infancy cannot be taken for granted.

The IGI notes a Sarah ROWNEY who married a man named Phillip LEWIS at Biggleswade in 1739. The identitiy of this woman has not been yet been determined, although there are a number of possibilities among the early ROWNEY families from around that area, this reference seems the most likely to relate to this Sarah. She would have been about 45 years of age by that time. No children have been identified and nothing is known of the fates of either Sarah or Phillip LEWIS.
