Note

George was born around 1852 in the village of Radwell, in Bedfordshire, England.

In the 1861 census, George (aged 9) was at home with his parents in Radwell. He was attending school at that time.

In the 1871 census, George (aged 19) was unmarried and living with his parents in Radwell. He was employed as a shoemaker.

George was married around the early 1870's, although details of his wife are not known for certain. It appears from the index that he must have married Sarah MIMMS in the December quarter of 1874 in the Bedford registration district.

George and Sarah had a son, Francis, who was born at Radwell in late 1875.

Sarah died in 1876 at the age of 25. She died in the Bedford registration district. After her death George and Francis seem to have moved back to live with George's parents.

In the 1881 census, George (aged 29) was a widower living with his parents in Radwell. He was employed as a shoemaker. His son Francis (aged 5) was with him and was attending school.

In the 1891 census, George (aged 39) was described as a widower and was living in the town of Kettering in Northamptonshire. He was working as a shoemaker. He was boarding at the home of Ann SURRIDGE (aged 37) an unmarried housekeeper from Pavenham, near Radwell, in Bedfordshire. His son Francis (aged 15) was also present and was employed as a shoe rivetter. There were two other adult male boarders staying at the house - one was a shoe rivetter and the other was an engine fitter. Ann's home was located at 27 Melton Street in Kettering.

In the 1901 census, George (aged 49) was still living with Ann SERRIDGE (aged 46) at the same address in Kettering. George was described as a shoemaker working from home with his own account. Ann was described as living by her own means. They were the only two people at the address and George was recorded as Ann's boarder.

George's fate has not yet been determined.
