Note

David was born in 1891 in Goodwood (SA). His father was recorded as Walter David ROWNEY on his birth registration. This person does not seem to have existed. David's mother is correctly identified. His father is given correctly as Richard Henry ROWNEY on his marriage registration. This curious naming error is not easily explained.

There are two women named in the WW2 Nominal Roll who are probably daughters of David and Ellen.
