Note

Edward was married to Ann CASSON in 1877 at the home of Ann's father, Jonathon CASSON, in Virginia (SA). Ann was a niece of Edward's sister-in-law, Elizabeth Jane (nee BURDEN). The BURDEN family were gardeners from Campbelltown (SA).

Edward owned Blocks 7, 8, and 9, in Section 310 of Campbelltown. These blocks lie along Lower North East Road. Edward bought this land, in conjunction with his father, from Mr. Henry TREVENER, a butcher from Payneham (SA). The ROWNEY's house fronted the road, and behind the house was a grass paddock and a carpenter's workshop. Three of Edward's sons worked locally, one as a market gardener, one as a carpenter, and one as a grocer. The grocer's shop was located next door to the house and workshop. Edward's paddock was a landmark used by the local hunting club as a starting point for their ride, and the Methodist Church was also constructed on the ROWNEY's land. In addition to his services as the local undertaker, Edward also served as the registrar of births, deaths, and marriages, and he was the Campbelltown postmaster from 1877 to 1879.

On 26 Aug 1890, Ann's younger sister, Elizabeth Harriett CASSON married Wilhelm Frederich John RICHTER at Edward and Ann's home in Campbelltown.

On 2 Aug 1918, Edward signed a statutory declaration stating that both he and his wife Ann were still alive and that they wished to claim their entitlements from the will of their son Albert who had been killed in action in France in 1917 during the Great War. Edward and Ann were living in Campbelltown at that time. Ann was also the named next of kin of her nephew Ray Newton RIDLEY who died of wounds on the Western Front in June 1918. Ray's father was away at the war, and Ann undertook the official correspondence with the Army until his return.

On 9 Apr 1920, Ann signed a statutory declaration claiming her entitlement to a £1 fortnightly pension on behalf of her son Albert. Albert had named his mother as the beneficiary of his pension in his will. Ann was living in Campbelltown at that time.

Ann died in 1923 in Campbelltown at the age of 64. She was buried in the Payneham Cemetery.

Edward died in 1948 in Campbelltown at the age of 94. He was buried with Ann in the Payneham Cemetery.
