Note

Jonathan married Mary BIRD in 1729 at Potton, in Bedfordshire, England. No burial for a Mary ROWNEY has been identified, but it would seem likely that Mary probably died within a few years of their marriage. Mary was from Potton, but Jonathan (and possibly Mary) lived at Sutton or Wrestlingworth, in Bedfordshire, after their marriage, so Jonathan may not have originated from Potton himself, although he is not identified as from another parish at the time of the wedding.

Jonathan later married the widow, Frances WAGSTAFF, in 1731. Some IGI information suggests they were married in Wrestlingworth, while other information suggests they may have been married in the village of Sutton. This suggests they were probably married by banns and each came from one of these two parishes. Frances seems to have lived with her previous husband, William WAGSTAFF, in Sutton, so perhaps Jonathan had been living in Wrestlingworth for a time. His brother Braumston was living in Sutton, and Jonathan and Frances appear to have remained living in Sutton for a couple of years after their marriage, before moving to Potton, where Jonathan had been married some years before.
