Note | David joined the British Army during the First World War. He served in the York & Lancaster Regiment. He was killed in action on the Western Front in 1917 at the age of 29. He came home from the front for a time with trench feet but later returned to the battlefield where he was killed. He told his brother-in-law when he left that he would not be returning home. May died in 1977. They had at least one daughter, who is believed to have been still living in 2005. |
